Hey There,

Hello, I’m Jennifer Peters (Jenn), a photographer and creative director who blends my indigenous heritage and passion for the arts into every project I undertake. Born and raised in Calgary, I initially built my professional life around operations engineering, regulatory compliance, optimization, and production, amid the hustle of fluorescent-lit offices and concrete jungles. My journey into the world of photography began as an unexpected twist of fate, while still continuing my distinguished 15-year career in the oil and gas sector of Calgary, Alberta.​​

Sad to say at this time "Had a great camera, had no idea how to use it".  This sparked an intense passion to learn my elusive equipment and focus on honing the creative skills of photography.  Seizing an opportunity to explore this passion, I enrolled at SAIT and ACAD, immersing myself in the art and science of photography. With an expensive camera that had long sat idle, we (my camera and I) embarked on a wild creative journey absorbing everything I could about the craft.

 

All this hard work and schooling paid off as I founded JKPeters Photography & Bliss by JKPeters Photography, focusing on creative portrait and wedding photography. My relentless pursuit of excellence led me to compete in local and international photography competitions, earning wins & recognition.  Today, my work is celebrated and displayed in prestigious venues like the Calgary Zoo.

In addition to my photography career, my creative spirit led to the creation of Curiosity Refresh Workshops. These workshops emerged from a desire to bring together like-minded individuals to craft elaborate, stunning photography sets. By utilizing diverse models, unique venues, and collaborating with talented vendors, Curiosity Refresh has hosted a wide array of themed workshops, including weddings, boudoir, fashion, studio, and cultural shootouts. I find immense joy in witnessing photographers, who might have never met otherwise, come together to share and inspire each other’s creative energy, support one another. The lasting connections and continued support among participants and vendors fill me with a deep sense of pride and accomplishment.

 

Creating a safe inclusive environment where artists can practice, experiment, excel at their photography goals, has always been my number 1 priority and I am very honored to be part of this community.
