On Saturday, March 1st, 2025, Calgary’s creative community of photographers, stylists, and wedding professionals gathered at the historic Princeton Event Venue for a floral-fueled afternoon of magic. Hosted by Curiosity Refresh Workshops the “Wildflower Affair” Styled Wedding Photography Shootout brought together an unforgettable blend of vintage elegance, artistic collaboration, and portfolio-perfect moments.

The Venue: A Heritage Gem in Calgary’s Core
Held at The Princeton Event Venue, formerly the Canadian Bank of Commerce built in 1912, this timeless backdrop added a layer of architectural charm to every frame. Its red-brick façade, arched windows, and vintage interior served as a natural canvas for the event’s whimsical wedding theme.
From golden-hour glow through stately windows to moody loft backdrops and curated floral installations, every inch of this space invited creative exploration.

Workshop Highlights: A Full Wedding Story, Shot by You
The workshop featured a dynamic mix of styled wedding sets designed to help photographers build a storytelling gallery, not just random portraits. Participants captured:
Romantic flatlays with Red Bicycle Paper Co. and Lovesky Design stationery
Stunning cakes by Chartier, Sweet Relief Pastries, and Black Dog Bakery
Floral masterpieces from Petal & Blum and Flora Arch Rentals
Couture bridal gowns by Lina Ghoson Studio
Modern menswear from World of Vici
Jewelry from Joanna Bisley Designs
Every set, from ceremony arches to reception tablescapes, was crafted to reflect a soft, dreamlike "wildflower" aesthetic.
The Models: Real Emotion, Professional Energy, Real Couples
The shootout featured a diverse group of models who brought every wedding story to life with authenticity and style. Couples like Lesha Vescio & Wyatt Sawyer, Roxy Stylez & Lemmy Velasquez, and Nicole Furlan & Matthew Eaton gave photographers the chance to capture intimate connections and high-fashion moments alike.
Models like Charlotte Benitz, Daniel Bassi, Annikka Dobko, Ayo Penuel, Natalia Hennady, and Khaliah Anousha Mitha added further range and representation to each scene.
Hair, Makeup & Wardrobe: Soft Elegance Meets Wildflower Affair
Beauty inspiration drew from garden-fairy glam and modern romance. The stylists’ roster included:
Makeup artists: @purebeautybyreanna, @jules.muartist, and @rawbeautyab
Hairstylists: @kimberley_u, Crystal Bergen (Cut Loose), and Jehan Bata (@rawbeautyab)
Wardrobe touches included romantic silhouettes, whimsical accessories, and culturally inclusive fashion moments, creating a blend of modern bridal aesthetics.

The Experience: Not Just a Shoot—A Community Moment
Photographers enjoyed refreshment breaks, behind-the-scenes peeks, and live group photos. The collaborative environment encouraged networking, creative risk-taking, and social media sharing.
Vendors like Special Event Rentals elevated the shoot with their luxe decor, and official sponsors such as Nanlite USA, Jupio, Cheetah Stand, and Flora Arch Rentals provided high-end tools and props to enhance every frame.

Final Words: Magic in the Making
The 2025 Wildflower Affair Styled Wedding Photography Shootout was more than just a workshop—it was a floral fairytale captured through many lenses. It was an afternoon of shared artistry, passion, and visual storytelling that will continue to bloom in portfolios, publications, and hearts long after the final shutter click.
